What is the Warm Homes Local Grant?
The Warm Homes Local Grant is a government-funded energy efficiency scheme delivered through local councils. Hull City Council has secured £3.4 million to fund free solar panels, heat pumps, insulation and ventilation for eligible households in the HU postcode area and East Riding.

Warm Homes Local Grant Eligibility Criteria
1. Property Efficiency
Your home must have an EPC rating of D, E, F, or G.
2. Benefits or Income
Your household income is £36,000 or less, or you (or someone living with you) receive a qualifying benefit like Universal Credit, Pension Credit, or Housing Benefit.
3. Property & Area
Your home is privately owned or privately rented, and in the HU or East Riding postcode area.
Available Measures
Depending on your property survey, Warm Homes Local Grant funding can cover:
- Solar PV: Free solar panels to generate your own electricity.
- Air Source Heat Pumps: Replacing old gas boilers or electric storage heaters with renewable heating.
- Insulation: Loft, Cavity Wall, Room-in-Roof, and Internal Wall Insulation (IWI).
- Ventilation: Mechanical ventilation and heat recovery (MVHR) systems to improve air quality and reduce condensation.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
You can access the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. This provides a £7,500 grant to any homeowner in England & Wales replacing a fossil fuel boiler with a heat pump. It is not means-tested. Yeers handles the grant application and deducts it from your quote upfront.
