The Smartest Investment for Your Home
In an era of volatile energy prices, generating your own electricity is one of the most effective ways to secure your household's financial future. At Yeers, we specialise in high-performance residential solar panel installations across Hull, York, Leeds, and the wider Yorkshire region.
Unlike national call centres, our local teams understand the specific challenges of our northern climate. We design systems using low-light performance panels that generate significant power even on cloudy days, ensuring you get the maximum return on investment regardless of the weather.
Reduce Energy Bills
Save up to £1,200 annually by powering your home with free solar energy instead of expensive grid electricity.
Energy Independence
Protect yourself from energy price cap rises. Combine with battery storage for 24/7 power.
25-Year Warranty
We only use Tier 1 panels (Jinko, REC, Perlight) that come with 25-year performance guarantees.
Increase Property Value
Improve your EPC rating. Solar homes sell faster and command higher prices in the Yorkshire market.

Our Technology
Not all solar panels are created equal. For Yorkshire homes, we typically recommend Monocrystalline PERC panels or 'All-Black' aesthetic panels which blend seamlessly with slate roofs common in Beverley and York.
Inverters & Optimisation
The inverter is the brain of your system. We install smart inverters from SolarEdge and Sigenergy.
- String Inverters: Cost-effective and efficient for simple, unshaded roofs.
- Micro-Inverters / Optimisers: Essential if you have shading from chimneys or trees — each panel operates independently, so one shaded panel doesn't drag down the whole array.
Bird Protection
Pigeons nesting under solar panels is a common issue in urban areas like Hull and Leeds. We offer a specialised bird proofing service, installing robust mesh around the perimeter of your array to prevent nesting without damaging the system or your roof.

Solar Panel Costs by House Type in Yorkshire
The right system size depends less on your postcode and more on your roof. Across Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and York, these are the typical installed figures we quote for Yorkshire homes (indicative — verified July 2026):
| House type | Typical system | Installed cost | Yorkshire yield (est.) | Annual saving + SEG |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mid-terrace | 2.5–3 kW (6–8 panels) | £4,800–£6,200 | 2,100–2,700 kWh | £550–£750 |
| Semi-detached | 3.5–4 kW (8–10 panels) | £6,200–£8,200 | 3,000–3,650 kWh | £750–£1,000 |
| Detached | 5–6 kW (12–16 panels) | £8,500–£11,500 | 4,300–5,400 kWh | £1,100–£1,450 |
| Bungalow | 3–4 kW (8–10 panels) | £5,800–£7,800 | 2,600–3,500 kWh | £700–£950 |
Every price above already reflects 0% VAT on solar, which HMRC has confirmed runs until 31 March 2027 — after that the rate rises to 5%, so an £8,000 install would cost roughly £400 more. Adding a battery (about £700–£950 per usable kWh, also 0% VAT — including standalone battery retrofits since February 2024) typically lifts self-consumption from ~45% to 75%+.
What Solar Panels Actually Generate in Yorkshire
A common myth is that Yorkshire is "too far north" for solar. In practice a south-facing 4kW array here produces around 3,400–3,650 kWh a year — only 8–12% below the South Coast, while your electricity costs exactly the same. East or west roofs still deliver roughly 85% of that, spread more usefully across morning and evening.
SEG: getting paid for what you export
The Smart Export Guarantee pays between roughly 1p and 27p/kWh depending on supplier (indicative — rates change frequently, so check current tariffs before you commit). Octopus consistently offers the strongest rates, but you need an MCS-certified installation and a smart meter to qualify. As an indicative example, a semi-detached exporting 1,500 kWh at 15p adds about £225 a year on top of bill savings. Run your own roof, usage and tariff numbers through our solar savings calculator to see a payback estimate — most Yorkshire homes land in the 6–9 year range on a 25-year+ panel lifespan.
Our 5-Step Installation Process
From enquiry to switch-on
1. Remote assessment — we size your roof from satellite imagery and your last electricity bill. 2. Technical survey — a surveyor checks roof structure, shading, loft access and your consumer unit. 3. Fixed quote — itemised panels, inverter, optional battery; no doorstep pressure, valid 30 days. 4. Installation — typically one day for scaffolding-up-to-handover on a standard semi. 5. Handover and registration — MCS certificate, DNO notification, monitoring app set-up and SEG sign-up support, all backed by our 10-year workmanship warranty.
Why MCS Certification Matters
MCS isn't a badge — it's the gateway to the money. Without an MCS certificate you cannot register for any SEG export tariff, most insurers question the installation, and conveyancers flag it when you sell the house. MCS also mandates accredited hardware, DNO notification and workmanship standards. YEERS is a Hull-based MCS installer covering Hull, Yorkshire and Lincolnshire — if you're local to the city, our solar panels Hull page covers street-level specifics like the East Yorkshire DNO (Northern Powergrid) and typical Hull terrace roof layouts. All quotes come through our online form — no call centres, no cold calls.
Frequently asked questions
Are solar panels worth it in Yorkshire?
Yes. A south-facing 4kW system in Yorkshire generates around 3,400–3,650 kWh a year — only 8–12% less than the South Coast — and electricity prices are the same nationwide. With 0% VAT until 31 March 2027 and SEG export payments, most Yorkshire homes see payback in 6–9 years against a 25-year+ panel lifespan.
How much do solar panels cost for a house in Yorkshire?
Indicatively (verified July 2026): a 3.5–4kW system for a typical semi-detached costs £6,200–£8,200 installed, a terrace 2.5–3kW system £4,800–£6,200, and a detached 5–6kW system £8,500–£11,500. Prices include 0% VAT, which runs until 31 March 2027. Batteries add roughly £700–£950 per usable kWh.
Do I need planning permission for solar panels on my home?
Usually not — roof-mounted solar on houses is permitted development in most cases, provided panels don't project more than 200mm and the property isn't listed. Homes in conservation areas may face extra rules on street-facing roofs. We check this during the survey before you commit.
How much can I earn from the Smart Export Guarantee in Yorkshire?
SEG rates range from roughly 1p to 27p/kWh depending on supplier, with Octopus typically strongest — rates are indicative and change frequently. A semi-detached home exporting around 1,500 kWh a year at 15p would earn about £225 on top of bill savings. You need an MCS-certified installation and a smart meter to qualify.
How long does a home solar installation take?
The installation itself is typically one day for a standard semi-detached, including scaffolding, panels, inverter and electrical work. End to end — from enquiry through survey, fixed quote and DNO paperwork to switch-on — most YEERS installs complete within 3–5 weeks.
Why does my solar installer need to be MCS certified?
Without an MCS certificate you cannot register for any SEG export tariff, so you'd give away exported electricity for free. MCS also requires accredited equipment, DNO notification and audited workmanship standards, and the certificate is routinely requested by insurers and conveyancers when you sell. YEERS is a Hull-based MCS installer with a 10-year workmanship warranty.
